Still Life in Decay

“Still Life in Decay” is a 9x12 charcoal still life capturing the fragility of life. In this piece, a skull, empty plant cups, two leaves, and a book are portrayed with spontaneity. This piece was a timed 15-minute still life I used to challenge myself not to overthink my art and to draw what I see. This deliberate exercise allowed me to silence my inner critic and create a raw and unfiltered version of what I was observing. Through this artwork, I encourage viewers to embrace the imperfections and fleeting beauty of life as seen through an unguarded eye.
