Styled in Bleach

“Styled in Bleach” is a collection of six different shirts customized for my family members. The shirts in this collection are all plain black 100% cotton shirts that I painted using bleach, and black and white fabric paint. I had each of my family members give me a simple one-two word prompt for their shirts, I have chosen to feature three.
My mother asked me to make “a Sunset,” so I created a unique design based upon our family. The hibiscus flowers and buds represent our family of 6 and our two dogs, and the palm trees represent my parents while the birds represent my siblings and me.
My little brother asked me to create an, “astronaut swimming,” so I created lane lines of stars with an astronaut swimming on its back with different space themed doodles around the shirt with splatter to create a space like effect.
My boyfriend asked me to do something with “lightning,” and I really like painting skulls, so I used bleach blended with white fabric paint to create the lightning and black fabric paint and bleach to create the skull.
